The Looking Glass Magazine

The Looking Glass magazine was printed for 16 years, monthly.  It has been out of print for a number of years.  However, we have been given a box of old issues which we offer for sale.

Gene & Nancy Owen started the magazine as a weekly newspaper, but in a few short months changed the format to a magazine, with various number of pages, usually 24 to 40.  They published for 14 years, from Hatfield, Arkansas, until they sold the magazine in 1989 to Mike Cate.  Mike published or a year or so from Mena, then moved to Waldron, in Scott County, then to Murfreesboro, in Pike County. After Mike took over the magazine held stories and pictures from other areas outside Polk & Montgomery Counties. Although there are some which contain local articles.

There is no index to The Looking Glass, but we are in the process of building a Table of Contents for all the issues.

The cost of back issues of The Looking Glass is $6 each, S & H included.

Until we are able to get an index, you can send an email (use form on home page) and ask if we have a copy with your family, or the article you are interested in.  These are first come, first serve, and they won't last long.  Most we only have one issue, others we have two or three issues. All are in fair to good condition, no missing pages, but they are used.

We cannot copy the magazine for you.  It is copyright protected.  If we don't have the actual magazine to sell, they you can visit one of our local libraries and perhaps obtain a copy of a story you are interested in.  Check the copyright law, but I believe it allows you to copy an article for your own personal genealogy use, but not for resale.
