White Oak (click for photos)
White Oak is the oldest cemetery in the town of Mena, that I know of. It is located at Eve & Averitt Streets, on the west end of town. This cemetery was hard hit by the tornado that came through Mena April 9, 2009. You can click on the Tornado link on the menu bar and then on White Oak Cemetery and see the damage done to this cemetery. Many stones were damaged and most of the large trees were taken out. I took this picture only two weeks before the storm hit.
Directions: From Highway 71 & De Queen St. in Mena, turn North on De Queen, go one block and turn left onto Janssen Ave. Follow the road (crossing Highway 8-Reine St.) and continue on until the road dead ends into Eve, left on Eve 1/2 block. There is an entrance on Eve and one on Averitt. (I'm doing this from memory, and will check to make sure my directions are correct.)
