The library is located in the old Norman High School, Norman, Arkansas. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
This library is for local research only and has only a few records for other counties and states.
It has an outstanding collection of materials for both Polk & Montgomery Counties. There are lateral files by surname and subject, and over 20,000 obits. Many local family photos are available for copying (by the staff) at a reasonable fee.
There is copy machine with copies at 25¢, computer access for local research databases, wireless (bring your own laptop).
GEDCOM files are accepted and will be added to the Family Database for local research. These are READ ONLY files and copies will not be made from them. The library is also happy to receive your family history printed genealogy or book. Each researcher is asked to register the families they are researching so that other researchers might contact them.
An INDEX card file is underway, to index every name in the library so that it can be accessed quickly. There is already a "tidbits" card file with tidbits pulled from local newspapers. There are files for both subject and surname. This is in addition to the lateral files.
There is also a small museum in this building, so plan to take the short tour.
